SHOW OVERVIEW:
[From Right on Cue:] Hadestown weaves together the ancient myths of Orpheus and Eurydice, and Hades and Persephone, into a powerful tale that resonates with modern themes. Set against a backdrop of a post-apocalyptic steam-punk landscape, this innovative show combines elements of American folk music, jazz, and blues to tell a story of love, loss, and redemption.
The plot follows Orpheus, a hopeful young musician, who embarks on a perilous journey to the underworld to rescue his beloved Eurydice after she is lured there by the promise of security by the enigmatic ruler Hades. In the underworld, Eurydice faces the harsh realities of Hadestown, a factory where souls toil endlessly, forgotten by the world above. Meanwhile, the strained relationship between Hades and his wife Persephone mirrors the cycles of decay and growth, influencing the fates of those below and above.
PROGRAM OVERVIEW:
The goal of this program is to blend the successes of our acting programs and camp productions. Like camp and classes, this program is tuition-based. Those registered for the program are guaranteed to be cast in roles in the production. However, just like with camp, tuition is not tied to casting decisions but to the educational experience of putting the show together. Some actors will be cast in leading roles and some will be cast in ensemble roles; refunds will not be given to those who are not happy with their assigned role, and all tuition payments must be made before the audition date. This information must be considered before registration; students should only be enrolled if they are genuinely happy to be involved in the program regardless of the role they receive following auditions.
REGISTRATION: Registration is complete. The refund and waiting list deadlines have passed. Thank you!
COST: $250. As with camp, this cost includes a show t-shirt.
