Teen and Adult Improv

Maged Roushdi has been improvising in the Atlanta area since 2001 and has been with Dad’s Garage Theatre since 2016. As an ensemble member there he has worked on performing, teaching, and developing shows both at the theatre and around the Atlanta Improv community. He has had the opportunity to perform with a great deal of talented individuals including Colin Mochrie, Phil Lamarr, Amber Nash, Scott Adsit, Mark Meer, Joe Bill, Thomas Middleditch and more.

 


7th-12th Grade: Teen Improv

Elementary School

Kindergarten-2nd Grade: Adventure On

Explore topics of creativity and self-expression through storytelling and playing pretend. Just like your favorite Paw Patrol heroes, we’ll be exploring actor tools and skills to help build a foundation of performance… and build confidence along the way! This class will be taught through Zoom and will include a digital performance at the end.

3rd-5th Grade: Ghouls, Goblins, and the Grand

We’re diving into the fall headfirst with this spooky-themed class focused around building strong characters and storytelling. This class will include some writing activities and technical theatre elements. As we learn and play, we’ll also build self-confidence and awareness to help prepare for middle school consciousness. This class will be taught through Zoom and will include a digital performance at the end.

Middle School

6th-8th Grade: Acting from Past to Present

Theatre performance as a long and rich history, and we’re going to use it to build better performers through this class. Starting from prehistoric theatre and moving all the way up to modern theatre, we’ll talk about how the theatre has changed and we’ll practice techniques that have evolved along the way. Students will gain a well-rounded understanding of the art form, and will have a lot of fun along the way! This class will be taught through Zoom and will include a digital performance at the end.

High School

9th-12th Grade: Beyond Performance

This unique class will help prepare performers for what comes next: from audition prep to self-taping and resumes, students will learn how to present their best self while trying to get roles. Those enrolled will come away from this class with an audition book of their own and other materials to help them moving forward. All of these training exercises will occur through Zoom and will include a digital performance at the end.

9th-12th Grade: Acting through the -Isms

Like with anything else, there are oodles of philosophies on what makes ‘good theatre.’ Through the course of this 8-week class, our teen actors will explore thirteen -isms of performance in a historical sense while also engaging in each of them as actors. All of these training exercises will occur through Zoom and will include a digital performance at the end.
