Spring Musical: Anything Goes - Audition videos/forms are due 11/14 ahead of in-person auditions!
SHOW INFORMATION: Anything Goes is set aboard the ocean liner S. S. American, where nightclub singer/evangelist Reno Sweeney is en route from New York to England. Her pal Billy Crocker has stowed away to be near his love, Hope Harcourt, but the problem is Hope is engaged to the wealthy Lord Evelyn Oakleigh. Joining this love triangle on board the luxury liner are Public Enemy #13, Moonface Martin and his sidekick-in-crime Erma. With the help of some elaborate disguises, tap-dancing sailors and good old-fashioned blackmail, Reno and Martin join forces to help Billy in his quest to win Hope’s heart. [We’re doing the revival version.]
Note: The Grand Theatre Adult Company is an amateur community opportunity. There is no charge to participate if cast, and actors are unpaid.
AGES: Actors interested in portraying leads must be at least 18 years old. Actors interested in the dance ensemble must be at least 16 years old.
AUDITIONS: We’ll be doing two separate auditions for this production. Auditioners may attend both, but are not required to do so.
- Tuesday, November 15th: Ensemble Auditions (Ages 16+)
- 6:30-8:30pm at the Grand Theatre
- Submit your audition video with your form. See below for details.
- Those who only wish to be considered for the ensemble should attend this audition.
- Please prepare a vocal audition of an appropriate song selection. You’ll submit this audition as a video when you complete your audition form. Here are some audition possibilities.
- At the physical audition, those auditioning for the ensemble will learn a selection of dance combinations. Those with tap shoes should bring them. For the other combinations, tennis shoes or other dance shoes are perfectly acceptable.
- This show has many large dance numbers, so these auditions will be used to determine the dance cast. Those who only attend the ensemble auditions will only be considered for ensemble roles. Ensemble members will not be called to every rehearsal.
- Thursday, November 17th: Character Auditions (Ages 18+)
- 6:30-8:30pm at the Grand Theatre
- Submit your audition video with your form. See below for details.
- When completing your audition form, please include a video that contains;
- A prepared vocal selection.
- A 1-2 minute monologue.
- When making your selections, please consider the show and the role you’d like to be considered to play.
- On-site, you will participate in cold readings with other auditioners.
- You may also participate in a dance combination, depending on the role(s) you’re auditioning to play. Those with tap shoes should bring them. For the other combinations, tennis shoes or other dance shoes are perfectly acceptable.
- We may also request that you perform a part of your recorded audition in-person. If so, you’ll be contacted ahead of time so that you may prepare!
- When completing your audition form, please include a video that contains;
We hope that by asking for a video submission as well as the on-site pieces, we’ll be able to fully understand what you have to offer our production.
As a note, there are many characters that do not require heavy dancing, and we’re flexible on the directions we take the lead roles that traditionally do a lot of choreography. Learning dance combinations for auditions is less about your ability to master the skill and more about seeing the level of character you’re willing to bring. It also gives us a chance to work with you ahead of casting.
