Dramaturgy Camp

UPDATE: 4/13/2020
We are still closely monitoring the COVID-19 Pandemic and adhering to all CDC and governmental guidelines concerning social distancing. As of now, we are still planning to hold all of our theatre camps this summer. We’ll continue evaluating the situation and will post updates as needed. In the event that camps are cancelled, refunds for tuition will be initiated to the credit/debit card used to make the initial purchase. Those who paid by cash or check will be contacted for their refund.

Thank you for your patience, and please stay safe and well!

New in 2020, this camp will take place in partnership with the Bartow History Museum.

Dramaturgy involves researching components of a show ahead of its production and using the research to dictate design choices and opportunities. In addition to learning how this process works, campers will also work together to research information on our Senior Camp show that will be used to influence the ultimate design choices.

Students may ultimately choose to research the time period, the costumes, the props, the scenic design, and a whole host of other topics.

This camp will take place Tuesdays and Thursdays in June 2020, from 9am until 12pm on the designated days. After the camp has concluded, the research will be used for our production in July. The students’ work will be displayed during the performances in the lobby, and the students will receive a bound portfolio of their work to use in the future.

Campers may participate in Dramaturgy Camp AND Senior Music Camp or Technical Theatre Camp, if they choose to register for more than one experience.
